Perhaps this needs a clarification: you can put a saved_layout.lua in ~/.ion3/. If one doesn't exist in the session directory (which one can explicitly specify with -session), this one is loaded. If you remove the one in the session directory in .xsession, restarts should work fine, as the state gets saved over restarts. (It's also possible to do some search path mangling in Lua and from the command line, and maybe even set X properties to detect restarts. But it's more kludgy. And the session directory is always the first directory looked into, despite other search path orders, which excludes certain options.) -- Be an early adopter! Beat the herd! Choose Windows today!
