wouldn't a very simple text-osd-function in ion be nice? :)
a lot of eyecandy and even useful things (clock, cpu/mem load, mailcount,
event notifications etc.) could be scripted with lua.
i imagine a func like
osd_text( text, xpos, ypos, color, duration, maybe_font/size )
that way i wouldn't have to deal with the dock or other add-ons
to make my desktop a bit more informative. add some alpha fading
and it's even gonna look good. :)
