Check the dependencies!

Update Lua to 5.0.1. (It is not officially released yet, but available,
e.g. through a link on the Ion web page).

ok, thanks I will try that. I read about the dependency of Lua 5.0.1 but did not really think about it, because I used the gentoo package system, which normally keeps track of these things.

So it's a bug in the gentoo ebuild, thanks again for the answer.

The lua patch was released 2 months after ion-devel-20030814, which is why the gentoo ebuild has the 'old' dependency information.

I added ebuilds for lua 5.0.1 using the patch some time ago -- emerge -u world should have done this for you if you run ~x86 -- and the ion-devel-20031121 ebuild contains the strict lua-5.0.1 dependency.

I should really remove the 20030814 ebuilds, but I'm waiting to ensure that 20031121 is stable.
