I should have been more clear about what I mean.

The biggest problem I experience is with downloading files that
do now have an "associated file type" (I realize this is starting to
sound more like a Firebird problem than Ion, but please bear with me)
When mozilla doesn't know what to do with a file, it pops up a 'dialog'
asking "What should Mozilla Firebird do with this file?" This window
does not appear at the bottom of the frame like other popups, instead
it appears in it's own tab. This would be all right, HOWEVER, if I
select "save to disk", a "real" dialog pops up at the bottom of the
firebird frame asking for a filename to use while saving, however
the dialog that asked 'what to do' does not go away and remains as
the currently visible frame. It took me a while to figure out that
anything was happening (I always thought firebird just got stuck
at this point) until I realized that I had to go back to the other
frame and click "Save" there for both of the dialogs to go away.

So, given this "weird" firebird behavior, I was wondering if there
are some kludges that would cause for this strangeness to be handled
in SOME sane way, i.e. forcing the "save filename" dialog to not
pop up on the bottom of the frame in firebird but instead as it's
own frame (i guess this would involve ignoring the "transient for"
hint?)
