Rasmus and Stefan,

The solution NetBSD found and that I'm currently applying to my OpenBSD
boxes in order to compile Ion is to use the code provided by the Citrus
project, which provides an API for exactly that purpose.

Additionally, I'd guess the same applies to FreeBSD. Information
regarding the Citrus project can be found on:

        http://citrus.bsdclub.org/

For those of you who are running OpenBSD, Kevin Lo has a patch against
-current that provides the desired functionality:
