FYI, there is a post on macosxhints.com on installing ion on OS X. 
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20040514225711912 It 
describes installing and configuring ion-1. I added my own comments on 
building ion-2 on OS X, but it still fails at runtime. Has anyone 
gotten the "dlcompat" library on OS X to handle ion-2's dynamic linking 
properly?
