I've tried every sample that comes with IoTivity to compile with bitbake and test the servers with my development board
What dev board are you using ?

We know that those boards are working fine:
http://wiki.iotivity.org/hardware

and all throw the same exception in the same line of code.
have you checked error message in
http://jira.iotivity.org/ ?
If there is nothing similar please report a new ticket there and refer to it.

I cannot understand why my system throws bad_alloc and reports there isn't enough memory to allocate. On a different terminal I display the memory consumption with: "watch -n 1 free -m" and I have:
                   totalused free shared buffers cached
Mem: 1000 295 705 0 21 85

As the pre-installed samples work
Which version ?

I assume there is a problem with my development process (ie bitbake) so I tried to cross-compile with scons but get the error bellow:

scons TARGET_ARCH=arm TARGET_OS=yocto
you should use bitbake to run scons check:
http://wiki.iotivity.org/yocto

scons: Reading SConscript files ...
ERROR in Yocto cross-toolchain environment

FYI, I am using yocto on raspberrypi on Poky and Tizen too

Hope this help
