It is. But while it's easy to change a symbol or two, which the guys
did, it's really not cool to rename a branch in a distributed version
control system that may exist in hundreds of instances on various
machines.  So the branch is still named 1.4-rel (there's nothing
stopping Nathan or others from making a 2.0-rel branch as well but I
didn't see anyone suggest that).
