Well fact may indeed be stranger than urban legend.
It just might be true.

Listen to the interview on BBC Radio 4 with the parrot�s current owner, who says his father in law owned a pet shop before the war from where Churchill bought several parrots. He says that when Churchill died they went down to the estate and bought all the remaining parrots � including this one.

Absolute Hogwash.  Churchill never had a parrot and there is no way that
the war rooms would have tolerated a foul mouthed one at that.  Remember -
most of the employees were women during WWII.

Someone should have checked with Urban Legends.
