The direct answer is there is no *variable* rate control for iperf as in the 
current code base.   It could be added and it wouldn’t take a lot of code.    
It also depends on what is to be varied.

As far as simulating from different ip addresses.   Iperf operates as the 
“TCP/UDP” socket layer so IP addresses are set by the operating system per 
things like the routing table.

Port variation would be doable but again, it’s not part of the existing code.

Is it possible to shape the traffic in iperf? I need the traffic to be variable 
bit rate instead of constant bit rate (following some probability 
distribution). Could you please advice?

I also need to simulate that the traffic is coming from different IP address 
and port. So, through the traffic is being generated from a node, I need the 
source IP address of the packets to be different. Is it possible to achieve in 
iperf?
