-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA512 ESnet (Energy Sciences Network) announces iperf-3.1.5, the latest point/bugfix release from the iperf 3.1 codeline.
iperf-3.1.5 introduces two significant changes in existing features. The user interface for the fair-queueing per-socket pacing (supported on recent Linux kernels) has been changed. It is now specified with the --fq-rate command-line flag, separately from iperf3's own internal pacing that is specified with the --bandwidth/-b command-line flag. Note that for some testing scenarios, this may mean that both the - --bandwidth/-b and --fq-rate flags need to be specified when invoking the iperf3 executable. This feature was accessed differently in the iperf 3.1.3 and 3.1.4 releases. The default size of UDP datagrams is no longer 8KB, but is determined dynamically at run time to be some appropriate value. This change was made to avoid problems with large UDP datagrams being generated and fragmented (for example on Ethernet networks with 1500-byte MTUs). The sizes and spacing of data packets generated for UDP tests may differ from UDP tests run with prior versions of iperf3. More information on changes can be found in the RELEASE_NOTES file in the source distribution. iperf3 is a tool for measuring the maximum TCP and UDP performance along a path, allowing for the tuning of various parameters and reporting measurements such as throughput, jitter, and datagram packet loss. It is fully supported on Linux, FreeBSD, and MacOS X. It may run on other platforms as well, although it has not received the same attention and testing. Note that iperf3 is not compatible with, and will not interoperate with, version 2 or earlier of iperf.
