In the last day or so, I've seen spam target ipfilter-devel
on sourceforge but none of the other ipfilter lists there,
so I'm going to assume that someone who's subscribed to the
list has had their mailbox or address book "raped and pillaged",
but I've no idea who.  Or someone "planted" the mailing list
address somewhere (less likely, I hope.)

I'd therefore encourage subscribers to look at how exposed
you are to outsiders, because I'm pretty positive that the
exposure of the list has not been deliberate.
