Attempting to install ip filter 3.4.31 on a fresh Solaris 9 HW 09/02
system (+ recommended & security patch cluster applied) with the Sun
ONE Studio (Forte) 7 Sun compiler. Followed the installation procedure
documented in the file INSTALL.Sol2 (make solaris; cd SunOS5; make package),
but it didn't actually install anything. It does actually build the
Solaris package into <srcdir>/SunOS5/sparc-5.9/ but doesn't seem to
run pkgadd as the documentation implies:
make package
This will build the package into SunOS5/<arch>/root, create a
package file called "ipf.pkg" in the SunOS5 directory and then
start the installation using pkgadd.
As part of the postinstall script, it will install loadable
kernel module as part of Solaris 2 (using add_drv) making it
available for immeadiate use.
In previous versions of ipf, "make package" was all I needed to do.
Do I need to manually install the package, or am I doing something
wrong?
