8? I got in the hundreds, directly related to this account which I created just for this and the *BSD list. I think the culprit is not necessarily the people on the list, it is the fact that the messages eventually get posted to Usenet. Since it is always the same virus (Swen) I imagine it is somehow mining usenet caches or such. I just eventually destroy the account, and create another one for mailing lists, especially due to the spam that inevitably follows my message ending up on usenet.
I wonder if it is possible to block off email addresses when the list gets posted. See, you had an answer. ;) -v -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ian Mitchell Sent: Friday, October 24, 2003 12:36 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Off Topic: Rants. While I look forward to extending assistance to others who are having difficulties in working with IPFilter. I have noticed that since joining this mail list just about a week ago, that I have not had an answer to the question I asked, but have in turn received no less than 8 emails that contain attachments that were flagged as viruses. While I am not overly concerned by the lack of response to my question, as this is the nature of mail lists; I am by the parade of viruses that seems to be running rampant. Please upgrade your virus scanners and urge your ISP's to filter executable attachments from emails. Also, don't open foreign attachments even if they appear to come from "official" sources. Thank you.
