Just an update: compiling with gcc 3.4.2 doesn't make any difference. The
machine simply freezes once a day without any log messages now. This is on an
Ultra 5, Solaris 5.8 with all known patches applied.
Next test is to see if this happens on other Ultra 5's.
ipf 3.4.35 works fine on this particular system.
