-I need to avoid running the webserver as root at all costs. Port 80 is reserved for use by root, so I need to find another way to get access to port 80.
You can also make port 80 unprivileged on Solaris (although you may need to be running 10 for that to work - I recall 8 allowing you to _add_ priv ports but not remove them). Solaris 10 will also allow you to grant just the priv port capability.
