I recently travelled to Switzerland with my iPad 3 (AT&T). I bought a ~$20 SIM
with 250MB of data (valid 30 days, I was there 20). Overall, a good experience.

Unless you have an unlimited data plan, you should dig deep into iOS settings
and check for various ways it might suck up data. I turned off iCloud sync over
3G, and turned off auto-downloading of new apps and music - probably a few
other things I don't recall.

Thanks,

gopi.
