Just keep the "joint" ID as the one logged in for the store. Use a
personal account for everything else.

I used to have my Apple ID on my phone and my wife's. The only real
headache was having to sort out our accounts with iMessage; basically
unchecking each our phones and email addresses after every major
update.

Now, we each are logged into our own accounts, we're part of family
sharing, and my account is still logged in on both phones for the
stores. The only headache now is that our pictures don't sync to each
other's phones. Instead we both sync to the same Dropbox folder.

No issues so far.
