Hi, everybody. I'm currently making a flashcard application for the iPhone, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping me test it out.
One of the reasons I bought the iPhone was because it's one of the few American phones that actually supports non-English fonts. As I've been studying Japanese for more than five years, I was really excited to get a phone that could display Japanese fonts-- and thus would finally give me an easy way to make a flashcard app so I could get a little studying in anywhere. I assume (but haven't tested) that it would support other foreign character sets, so such an app could be useful to people who study other languages such as Chinese, Arabic, etc whose character sets aren't supported on most other phones. I've already got a basic version going. It supports testing and uploading data formatted using Comma Separated Values. There'll be two versions of the site: the desktop version and the iPhone version. The desktop side will eventually support testing too, but for now it'll be mainly for managing/uploading cards, and the iPhone side will be for testing. One day I might try and extend it for use with regular mobile phones, but we'll see. While the application is geared towards Japanese, there's no reason it couldn't be used for something else; each "card" supports three fields, so it ought to be flexible enough for most uses. Anyway, anyone willing to help me stress test it, offer comments/ constructive criticism/etc would be greatly appreciated. My website is still under construction, as is the app, but those who are interested should email me (at my gmail account or the account listed below), and I'll get back to you by the end of the week when I have something like a beta version ready. Thanks!
