Hahlo has been re-written almost from the ground up, mainly based on
the feedback and general findings of the past couple of months. I also
feel that now is a good time to roll-out the new version with the
nearing on-sale date of the iPod touch which will hopefully bring more
users to Hahlo.
First up the UI has been re-thought, with the main toolbar moved to
the top of the screen with the rest of the controls. Tap on the 'menu'
button to show the toolbar with easy access to all the features. For a
quick update simply tap on the 'update' button....yes, the ambiguous
'star' button is gone.
A lot of improvements have been made to the way that tweets are
displayed including: -
- @ replies are now link in the timelines so you can quickly jump to
that persons timeline as needed
- links in tweets are now actual links (finally)
- When you see the little 'star' button tap it and you can quickly
favourite tweets (you can un-favourite by visiting the 'My Favourites'
page and tapping the star
- When you see the @ button, tap it to bring up the update box with
the username pre-populated ready to go
- On some pages, notably the direct messages pages, you will see a
little speech bubble with an 'M' on it, tap this to bring up the
direct message form.
More features than you can poke a stick at (although poking sticks at
your expensive iPhone is not recommended)
- Individual User Timeline
- My Friends Timeline - your, plus all your friends tweets
- in a perfect world this should auto-update, but at the
moment its a little touchy, and doesn't always work, but when it does
it is sweet, new tweets will appear at the top of the list, and will
be highlighted, the time of last check or update will also be shown.
- Replies - view all the @ replies that have been sent to you
- Direct messages, both an inbox and outbox are available
- My Favourites - view all your favourite tweets on one easy page
- Friends I'm following - all you friends with easy links to the user
timelines and for sending them messages
- Who's following me - all the twitterers who are following your
tweets
- coming soon, you'll be able to friend and de-friend directly
from Hahlo
- View the public timeline
- Update your twitter status
- Send direct messages
- Favourite new tweets
Hahlo aims to be best and most fully featured iPhone twitter client
around, so all your feedback is more than welcome and helps me to
build a better service.
All of this improvement has been made still without the aid of an
iPhone to test things on, but thankfully the iPod touch will be
available in Australia by the end of the month so I will then be a
little less reliant on so much user feedback, but until then please
test, and test some more and let me know what you think.
Something that I think is very important is that Hahlo does not do
iPhone user agent detection, allowing pretty much anyone to access
Hahlo whether or not they own an iPhone.
So try the beta now at: http://beta.hahlo.com
And follow http://twitter.com/hahlo for updates as they happen.
