1) Starts from the left.
2) Images are shown full height (though the top menu bar is always
shown).
3) You can indeed flick left and right.
4) Zoom is disabled.

The only drawback is that scrolling isn't restricted to only left-
right motion. So a casual "flick" has some up & down motion that --
although it gets damped out and returned to zero -- is not like
iPhoto's browser, and is visually not as slick.

I don't know how you'd restrict that motion, but someone here might.
