Originally I was counting hits, so it was basically a site counter, with the most hits ranking higher. I noticed that many people did not want to put the icon on their site. Also I have noticed that people put that icon in places other that their site which defeats the whole purpose. After getting frequent complaints from members, I've changed the ranking method to list based on the number of referrals sent. Basically the more you send in, the more you get back.
