Is there a way to limit how many are "lined up" to move into place?  Ie. If
you can limit 3 on the left and 3 on the right, moving more into the view
behind when 'scrolling' through it, that may help as well.  Ie.it's too
challenging to tap directly on the tiny edges that are viewable for the ones
in the back anyway.  Having less to animate would speed things up as well.
