First, the whole point of a BSD license is that you don't have to ask
to create derivative works. So permission isn't really required.
Letting us know that you are creating a fork is always a good
courtesy, but not required. There are many people who are using iUI
right now for both open source and non-open projects.

Second, unless you are making significant changes in the core iui.js
file, I'm not sure that you really need to fork. In fact, with the new
build tools in the latest release of
http://iui.googlecode.com/svn/tags/REL-0.13/ you can set it up your
own build process so that you can take advantage of any bug fixes and
new features in iUI by incorporating only the files you need, where
you need them, and ignoring the rest. We in fact do the same thing by
incorporating the js compressor from Dojo, so if they add or fix
things there we can incorporate it.

Third, even if you are making significant changes to the core iui.js
file, I'd suggest that you submit the patches to us to see if we can't
incorporate them rather then having your own separate project for it.
