Nod, I'm having the same problem. The error I get seems to change depending on the browser: under Safari I'm seeing:
Safari can't find the server. Safari can't open the page "http://connect.apple.com ... etc" I thought the server might be down, but I can access connect.apple.com OK, and I was trying late last night when I thought load would be lighter.
