Typically the choice is one that is compatible with other related tools, so SynchroEdit was licensed dual Mozilla Public License and LGPL, as other related projects used those licenses. Oddly, GPL is sometimes the best if you wish to profit from your source code (as companies will sometimes pay to avoid it), however, unless the project is big it will limit adoption. New BSD is the easiest and allows for the most flexibility and use with other open source licenses, as well as easy adoption by corporations who have to avoid GPL. So for broadest deployment, new BSD is the best. That is why we chose BSD for iUI -- we favored deployment and ease of use by both commercial and non-commercial websites, and easy integration into other open source apps that might be able to make use of iUI. -- Christopher Allen --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "iPhoneWebDev" group.
