hi Alex, there were few post on list on how to efficiently (a.k.a. iphone optimized) use google maps in web iphone devs, Basically: http://googlegeodevelopers.blogspot.com/2008/07/5-ways-to-use-static-maps-plus-new.html and whenever article mention "interactive large maps" use iPhone/iPod Safari Google maps dedicated url as described in mobile safari documentation to go to native Google Maps application (if required for your application features), there is also over iPhone dedicated google devteam blog article link I posted somewhere but I cannot find a link on group (try searching yourself to read that link about static maps/python/appengine iphone application),
