It was popular when Steve Jobs first anounced web 2.0 as beging the
development environment for the iphone, One of the first ide tools ,
the one from aptainia demonstrated it how you could do it using EXT
js lib but when apple introduced dashcode and the sdk environments
they did not include an accordian, nor did they include that style in
the human interface guidelines although it doesn't forbid it.

Most web based iphone components try to mirror the controllers in the
SDK so you don't see accordians. Web 2.0 development is pretty much
moving to Hybrid development, Web 2.0 integrated with native code.
you don't see a lot of it anymore. One reason is there is not any
really motivating factors driving it.

This is somewhat my opinion, But why do we do Web development vs
client/Server. The main reason is deployment and providing upgraded
copies of the apps. am I right here? BUT the app store provides a one
stop turnkey approach, to deployment, maintenance and version
handling. And apples somewhat restrictive but useful QA .

Bottom line is, you probably won't see a lot of deviations from the ui
guidelines in iphone apps, and the accordian is basically dead.
Replaced by trasitioned view controllers.
