Nice article and example.  I didn't know that it was (theoretically) 
possible to detect orientation with media queries.

Your example, though, has two problems in my opinion:  (1) It assumes an 
iPhone screen width of 320 px, and (2) it doesn't work on desktop 
browsers - pretty much a corollary of reason 1.
