Depends how you are calling it. Are you watching the position object so it fires everytime the gps gets a new location? >From the spec "The API itself is agnostic of the underlying location information sources." meaning it will work with what it has available. On the iPhone it'll use GPS, Cell Tower Triangulation and/or IP address. If you results aren't great it may not be using the GPS and falling back to one of the other options.
