Hi Stan

I am not certain I understand which context you mean users in but I
think I can help you. I have made an extension for tool bar button
modding on the fly that may help you. It's called TbBMod and can be
viewed in action here.

http://iui-js.appspot.com/iui/ext-sandbox/TbBMod/index.html

You can get the source js from the current iui clone or there is a zip
file attached to issue #47. There is minimized js in zip. The reg has
lots of comments and is much bigger.

I haven't tried it on anything but toolbar button but I think the
three current options should work for any item on page with a unique
id. Be careful with the text option. It uses innerHTML to replace
text. So if you have image or something there it will get replaced
with text.

If by user you mean developer making app it should be easy to use this.

If you mean app user I think you could still use it. I would figure
out how you want user to choose what to hide. Save on serverside or
client side, then dynamically add appriopriate mod form elements on
page load with JavaScript or server side.

I hope this helps. I will be putting out a new version with many more
options in may after I get out of school for the summer. Feel free to
send suggestions.

Vic
