Ok so I have a request. I'm not sure if it's feasible but if anyone can pull it off i can offer $100 for your effort. here we go:
I'd like to be able to have a large block of chinese text with the ability to tap a character and have the definition appear in a frame below. the dictionary is here (http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/export/ cedict/cedict_1_0_ts_utf-8_mdbg.zip). one thing with chinese is that there are no spaces between characters and often more than one character combines to make a word. for example 東 means "east" 西 means "west". But 東西 means "thing". so these combos would need to be automatically recognized. what i'd like to do is be able to have large blocks of text (ebooks essentially here's an example: http://www.epochtimes.com/9pingdownload/9pinggb_html.zip) work with this. i'm not sure if it's practical to do this in javascript because of the amount of text and size of the dictionary file. if you think this is possible please feel free to email me and we can work something out. thanks -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "iPhoneWebDev" group.
