I demo'ed a mockup of our mobile app in iUI today
1. Does the HTML validate? I noticed the "selected" attribute on the
<ul> tag which is used somewhere fails W3C validation.
iUI uses valid HTML with a few additional attributes that might be
flagged by various validators. The HTML standard says that browsers
should ignore attributes that they don't understand so there should be
no problems with this in the "real world" and none have been reported.
2. Are there any copyright issues with using such a close clone of the
Apple interface?
Apple doesn't seem to mind and has offered their own examples of webapps
using a close clone of their interface as starting points for web
projects. I do recommend creating your own theme for your site, but
there has been no reported instance of Apple complaining about this
issue and iUI apps have been accepted into the app store.
3. Are there any good examples of skins for this framework that look
significantly different to the iphone interface?
Try the theme switcher in the music sample:
http://www.iui-js.org/samples/music/music.html
Look at Remi's theme for Android and Palm Pre:
http://www.remi-grumeau.com/labs/iui/
For a corporate example, make sure your user agent says iPhone and try:
https://www.bankofamerica.com/
If you need still more try posting to this list with "looking for iUI
theme examples" in the subject line.
Any feedback would be a great help. I'm quite keen to use iUI but
still have a few things to overcome first.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Regards,
Sean
