Remi - All in all, I am surprised that there is as little spam as there is. You are doing a good job of keeping spam down and conversations civil.
Go ahead and give it a try - delaying a user's first message is no great penalty. With all the recent attacks on hotmail, gmail and yahoo accounts, it is not surprising that 20% are being used for spam. Most list members are lurkers who may not even be paying enough attention to realize that their accounts are spamming the list - especially since you are already filtering really well. You could try bouncing the spam, but I don't know if it would help. In some cases, it might give a user a heads-up that their account was being abused, in other cases the bounce would get lost in their filter and thus just be a waste of time. All in all, this shouldn't take too long, we are not more than a hundred active folks here right? The only difference for you as a user could be a bit longer time before your message is moderate and published. Thoughts?
