This is the issue that I have been having when trying to use IPMITOOL to perform serial-over-lan. I do not think that this is to do with BAUD rate differences between BIOS and BMC. I think this can be fixed in the IPMITOOL code. Duncan sent me a description of a possible cause seen by someone: "...a SOL data packet with the echo data comes back just after sending an outbound SOL packet, it will start a retry, and exhaust all retry attempts because it keeps seeing ack packets for what it didn't send back...". With your second issue Sophia, try - telnet localhost 623 - server : 192.168.0.10 - username : admin - password : admin Then this should log you in to the dpccli prompt on the remote system. Type console when the system is on to get the serial terminal displayed. - console Regards Tom -----Original Message----- ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2006 08:37:49 -0700 From: Al Chu <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [Ipmitool-devel] Re : SOL 2.0 on ESB2 To: "Sophia[IWill]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: "Kosaraju, Sridhar" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, ipmitool-devel@lists.sourceforge.net, "Narayan, Nilesh" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, Jack_Hsu <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, "Hung, Checa" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain > I already can get the display screen of my ESB2 platform correctly > through SOL. This sounds like a a baud rate issue. Make sure your BIOS and BMC baud rates are identical. Under Linux, if you want console redirection, make sure the baud under your boot parameters and getty are also set to the same value.
