I found that with with the default PE2950 BMC settings over a lanplus connection, connecting to the admin user without -k gave me USER privileges and didn't allow sol activate. I was able to change the settings via the OpenIPMI interface, but it was less trouble to get the Kg key working than to have to reconfigure all the BMCs. I also may have missed something along the way; maybe it does actually work without reconfiguration and my problem was due to something else. In any case, the Dells allow one to set Kg keys that cannot currently be passed on the ipmitool command line. If the convenience of having an ascii key outweighs the downside of not being able to communicate some valid keys, I'll either change my keys to contain printable ascii characters or re-investigate using lanplus without double-key authentication. --Levi ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
