That must be the ipmi0 kernel thread, which is used for the local IPMI
system interface, but is not needed for IPMI LAN access.  The IPMI LAN
accesses the BMC firmware directly, not using the main CPU.

Dear IPMItool dev, 

I had heard that the BMC can be accessed over LAN without interfering
the CPU.
Do you know how could I query the SDR data without affecting the CPU
cycle on the target computer?

I already had do some experiment, using "ipmitool -I lan -H target-host
sdr list" command.
I got the SDR listing from target-host, but "top" on target-host also
report me that "kipmi0" process took some CPU cycle :(

(around 1-3% CPU)
