Hi, Well, I've finally finished wading through all the emails and patches since our last release and have come up with an initial list of issues and patches. Unfortunately, (probably as we all expected) it's longer than it should be. :-( I'm hoping/expecting that some of the issues/patches on my first-pass list have already been addressed so I'll double-check the cvs code for each item before sending it out to the ipmitool-devel team for review.
What I would like to propose is that, over the next week or two, I send multiple emails to ipmitool-devel, each with a list which includes 5-10 issues/patches for discussion and review starting with the oldest and working my way forward. I'm thinking that for each item on the patch/issue list, I could post a URL pointing to the email date of the patch (or issue discussion) within the ipmitool-devel archives. Given the date, patch name and the patch originator's name, folks could drill down through that day's email (if there was more than one posting) and find the patch(es) for review. Please let me know what you think of this approach and if you have concerns about it or other approaches you'd like better. Also, I'll plan to add any review comments I may have for each to the patch/issue list before sending it out. Regarding a review period for each patch, can we give a time for patch review responses as maybe 2 weeks? E.g. if no one responds with questions, concerns, requested changes, or comments on why a particular patch shouldn't be included in the tree within 2 weeks, into the cvs tree it goes? Or would some other time limit or overall approach work better? Some of these patches were submitted quite some time back so I'll try to cc each originator so they have a heads-up that there may be review comments and possibly requests for changes on the way. Since (at least with the current plan) I'll be sending the patches/issue discussions out in chronological order starting with the oldest, folks can double-check that their patch/issue ends up getting onto the final review list in case I missed any. Please let me know what you think of this approach. Unless I hear otherwise, I'll be sending out the first of the bunch early next week so brace yourselves!! :-) And thank you all very much!! :-) Carol Hebert ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace.
