AFAIK, each ipmitool instance can only do one session. In terms of how many ipmitool instances can communicate to a given BMC, that is entirely up to the BMC, but a user session limit setting is generally available for the BMC that some set to a default value that you can query.

Subject: [Ipmitool-devel] how many LAN sessions can be open at one time?
All, I am being asked an ipmitool question that doesn’t seem to be in the
manpages—how many lan sessions can a user have open at one time with
ipmitool? Any response would be appreciated.
Thanks,
