Al, I completely agree with your sentiments. I therefore withdraw the request to include the patch into 1.8.11.
From the look of things, there is some reasonable dell specific ipmitool functionality which could be added, such as setting the LCD display. However, this should be done as a pure delloem standalone extension rather than creating dependencies on OEM libraries.
