Hello,

I'm trying to configure SOL on an Intel S5400sf with ipmitool. I was
successful in doing so, but ran into a problem I don't understand.

When trying to set any of the SOL parameters, I get the following
error:

node32-1:root-942 ~>ipmitool sol set enabled true -vvv

Using ipmi device 0
Set IPMB address to 0x20
Running PICMG GetDeviceLocator
OpenIPMI Request Message (1 bytes)
 00
No PICMG Extenstion discovered, keeping IPMB address 0x20
OpenIPMI Request Message (3 bytes)
 0e 00 01
Error setting SOL parameter 'set-in-progress': Attempt to write
read-only parameter
Error: set of parameter "enabled" failed

I was able to get around this problem by logging in from a remote
machine and setting the applicable SOL parameters (see below).

cluster2:bmesich-902 ~>ipmitool -E -H 192.168.252.1 -U admin -I lan sol
set enabled true

My guess is that I don't understand IPMI user permissions...or
something along those lines. Users on channel 1 (the active lan
interface) shows the following:

node32-1:root-943 ~>ipmitool user list 1
ID Name Enabled Callin Link Auth IPMI Msg Channel Priv Limit
1 true true false true ADMINISTRATOR
2 admin true true true true ADMINISTRATOR

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Bryan
