Hi Everyone,
I'm told this would be a good list for asking about a testing dilemma.
Here are some data points before I get to the question. I'm testing
proprietary management software which will initiate IPMI commands. The
management platform is the focus of my testing, not the client's BMC. It
really doesn't matter what the client is. It just needs a BMC. Testing
will require several clients.
So, what I need is to buy, or build, or emulate, are some small, cheap,
systems which have BMCs. Any suggestions?
I have several old Dell Optiplex g150 workstations with available PCI
slots. Could I add a card to them to add BMC functionality? Or, is that
even worth the hassle?
What do most people here use for their own testing? Gambit has something
called the "MIMIC IPMI Simulator", but its expensive. I also do not know
how well it works.
Thaniks,
