Why I would remove the then obsolete CVS repository if we migrate to git? To make sure everyone trying to track the current ipmitool source know that the CVS respotiory is obsolete. To make sure no-one end up like I have done, several times, trying to track what is believed to be the upstream version control system only to find out that it was abandoned years ago.
