Hi,
I was wondering if this has been mentioned before. Will there be
adverse effects( is this allowed in the first place?) from modifying the
link-local address from
16 16 16 16 16 16 16 16 bits
fe80 0 0 0 <-------eui-64 id--->
to
16 16 16 16 16 16 16 16 bits
fe80 0 <--vlan--> <-------eui-64 id--->
or ppp ID
so as to have the last 32 bits of the hgiher 64 bits of the link-local
address to represent the interface ID or the VLAN or PPP ID. Or is this 32-
bits reserved for something else?
Also, I take it that the global bit in the eui-64 identifier will
still be set if the above format is allowed?
Regards,
Sean
