IPv6 native address

Dear All   Can any body help me ???   Yesterday i was seeing one PDF file. It was talking about Ipv6 native address. they had given prefix length 48 bits. given example was 1080:0:FF:0:8:856:200c:5432/48.   (as per RFC saysThe remainder of the IPv6 address space.  An IPv6 address that bears a prefix other than 0:0:0:0:0:0.)means prefix length should be 96 bits.  pls give me correct format of IPv6 native address.
