Hi all, DNS Discovery Design Team studied the opportunity to use RA so as to advertise DNS resolver IPv6 addresses in 2001. But no proposition has followed. The only propositions today are to use well-known addresses or DHCPv6.
I believe that such a solution may be still interesting. I've proposed an individual idea about creating a new option for Neighbor Discovery so as to discover DNS resolver IPv6 addresses (http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-beloeil-ipv6-dns-resolver-opt ion-01.txt). I would like to have feedback from the working group. Pekka Savola has already commented that idea. The main question remains: "Is a request-reply mechanism a good mechanism?"
