Ok, I have been trying to get this working by reading all the other posts
and it hasn't happened yet. Maybe I am just missing something. I will be
the first to admit that I am no networking expert but I would think that
this software to be successful shouldn't need one. I have a website that is
hosted by a hosting company and all the email is directed to our own server
that is running IMail (which by the way works great! and was not hard to
setup) I have two machines on my desk that have the IM client installed and
the IM server is installed on the server that has IMail running on it, which
is external to my office. Each client can see the other (at least they
appear and get the smiley face). Neither could until I added the registry
entry as has been previously reported. I think that is a problem because
having the end user do that is asking for trouble. But each must initiate a
conversation to communicate. You can't see your own typing or the response
on the machine that was contacted. I'm not sure about the "ping test".
Both machines can ping the IM server and since they can communicate, sorta,
it looks like they both can find the server but what happens there appears
to be where the path breaks down. I would like to get this to work so I
could get rid of the public messenger programs.

Operating system should not matter. What were the results of your ping
test?
