If this is a true point-to-point link (SDH/SONET, serial) - isn't the argument that you really don't *need* address resolution, since there is no L2 address involved? I wouldn't necessarily expect a /127 to work on an Ethernet point-to- point link. But I *do* expect it work on a true point-to-point link (which it does today, on the hardware that is relevant for me), and it solves a real problem.
