I don't have any experience of using either of them, so I decided upon MyBB because phpBB seems to have a very poor security reputation (as mentioned by several people in #ipxe on IRC), and because we have a MyBB developer (Dylan) on the ipxe-devel mailing list. > surely there is a mailing list import tool, did you look for some one? .. > if i find one i will tell you I did look. The best I could find was mail2forum, which is compatible only with the extremely old phpBB 2.
