Sorry it's taken a bit longer than expected, but this functionality is now present in iPXE. You can boot from local disk using sanboot --no-describe --drive 0x80 (The --no-describe is necessary to prevent iPXE from attempting to create an iBFT or equivalent for the non-SAN disk.) On a closely related note, it's now possible to hook multiple SAN drives.
